To add ATF fluid, you will need a long neck funnel. The fluid is added
down the tube that holds the level dipstick. The engine does not have to be
running when you add the fluid but it will have to be running when you check
the level a second time. Be cautious about dirt falling down the tube.
You will find the filler/dipstick tube toward the back of the engine near
the firewall. There are as many variations to this as there are cars. See
if your owners manual shows the location. Some manufacturers have labels
pasted on or near the tube.

If possible, park your car in
the same location so if there are
any leaks, you can see the approx-
mate area where the leak is coming
from. ATF fluid is red. If you
do have a leak, the most likely

place for a leak is the pan on the
bottom of the transmission. It could
be as simple as tightening the bolts
or even that the gasket needs to be
replaced. Check your manual to see
when the filter should be replaced.
